ED71 1st form ED71 was released in 1959 as three prototype cars with different specifications based on ED70 due to the electrification of the Tohoku Main Line north of Kuroiso. Based on the test results, 41 primary mass-produced cars were introduced in the following year over two years, and 11 secondary mass-produced cars were introduced in two years from 1962, with a total of 55 cars being placed in the Fukushima locomotive depot. It was used as a traction machine for passenger trains and freight trains on the AC electrified section from Kuroiso to the suburbs of Sendai, and became the foundation for the subsequent development of AC electric locomotives. When the ED75 was introduced in 1965 for electrification north of Sendai, it was replaced by trains with higher speed, but it continued to be used south of the Sendai area. Toward the end of the series, dual sealed beam headlights were installed on some vehicles, but in 1982, all vehicles were discontinued. Introducing the ED71 primary type with a unique style in which the filter on the side of the vehicle is arranged in the shape of a rice field. Along with the secondary version, it served as a tow for many passenger cars and freight cars. The ED75 was sometimes used to pull long trains or heavy trains in double or triple trains, and was used as a follow-up machine for freight trains pulled in double trains on the Kanayagawa-Fukushima-Shiraishi route, which has a continuous uphill slope. Organization example Main features Around 1975, the primary type belonging to the Fukushima locomotive depot was commercialized. The filter placed in a rice field shape on the side of the car body, the rain toy of a different length from the secondary type, and the electric heating indicator placed on the 1st position side are reproduced. The belt and steps that wrap around from the front are reproduced. Accurately reproduces the equipment on the roof, which has a mechanical liveliness in the small car body characteristic of AC electric locomotives. Front handrails, release levers, flame tubes, whistles, etc. are installed. Headlights are lit (light bulb color LEDs are used). Reproduces the original single headlight. Adopts a slotless motor to achieve smooth and quiet running. Arnold coupler is standard equipment.
